Danielle King, MSA

Working with intimate stories in moving and non-moving imagery, Danielle King meshes the physical world with entangled dreams and insecurities. A traditional animator and visual artist, her work has showcased in galleries and film festivals across Canada. Interested in dualities, dreams, mirroring and the female form, Danielle’s work stands out as darkly playful, introverted and highly detailed, ignited with copious amounts of coffee.

Animation Classes Danielle has Taught:

  • Claymation — tried and true plastic clay (stop motion) animation, a class favourite.
  • Shadow Animation (Silhouette) — lamps + dark paper make a mystical experience
  • Paint Animation — blotches and splats of paint create moving abstracts
  • Doodle Animation — dry media like pastels, coloured pencils, charcoal, markers, crayons or graphite to create add-on animation doodles
  • Human Animation — our bodies make a great animation medium
  • Sand Animation — using sand to create images
  • Paper Animation (Cut Out) — paper dolls and sets
  • Rotoscoping & Cel Animation — using video stills to build characters
  • Flip Book Animation — using small collections of papers to create little movies
  • Junk Animation (Stop Motion) — using everyday objects such as toys, food, beads, buttons, puzzle pieces or anything lying around
